Eds Place Lounge
Eds Place Bedroom

Cosy and spacious

Ed’s Place is a lovely one-bedroom flat attached to Wilson Place, a working farm,  close to the Three Shires Inn in Little Langdale.

John & Maureen, the owners of Wilson Place Farm, have also rented out Damson View for a number of years. They decided to develop this property and the result is as amazing as Damson View. Set behind the main farm house, the apartment has its own outside seating area and private parking. Ed’s Place is all on one level on the first floor, accessed by outside stone steps.

Inside is surprisingly spacious. Walking into a cosy living room area, leading to the kitchen with a separate sitting room it has wonderful views out over Little Langdale. The large double bedroom at the end  is airy and beautifully appointed. The bathroom is a half bath with a shower above. The laundry facilities are based in an outbuilding and shared with Damson View.

The picturesque Blea Tarn is approximately 2 miles away with gorgeous walks around the tarn and woodlands.  Wrynose Pass and Hard Knott Pass are just up the road. You will find the historic Hard Knott Roman Fort built between AD 120 and AD 138 on these roads. One of the loneliest outposts of the Roman Empire. The walls surrounded granaries, barracks, and a commandant’s house. The baths, with a sequence of three rooms can be seen outside of the main walls. An area of flattened ground is believed to be a parade area.

Wrynose and Hard Knott are two famous mountain passes and are incredibly steep with uneven surfaces. There are many hairpin turns and at 1:3, Hard Knott is one of the steepest roads in England.  The passes take you from Langdale to Eskdale area through some amazing wild scenery.  Definitely worth the drive if you are feeling confident!

If you are attempting to tick off the Wainwright Routes then Lingmoor Fell is right on your doorstep from this property. Part of the Southern Fells group of Wainwrights, Lingmell Fell is roughly 1530′ high so not too challenging but definitely worth the climb as the views from the top are spectacular.

Close to the Three Shires Inn, you are well placed for numerous walks from Ed’s Place across the ford from Little Langdale you can take in a short route via Catherdral Cave, a cavern deep in the woods, hewn out of the rock during the search for slate; Slaters Bridge, one of Lakeland’s ancient pedestrian bridges which connects Little Langdale with the many slate quarries in the Tilberthwaite area such as the sheer sided Hodge Close Quarry; Blea Tarn, one of the easiest tarns to visit, with a convenient car park on the Little Langdale to Great Langdale road and a backdrop of the Langdale Pikes and Crinkle Crags at the far end of the Langdale Valley. Just some of the interesting walks guests can enjoy in this dramatic landscape.
