Beautifully renovated 5 Star Visit England

Juniper Cottage, Chapel Stile

A former quarryman’s home dating from 1860 in Chapel Stile, Juniper Cottage has beautiful views of Lingmoor and the Langdale Pikes, which we consider the heart of the Lake District.

It is a two storey terraced property sleeping four in two bedrooms. Downstairs is the lounge, beyond which is a separate dining area both with log burners and a fully- equipped kitchen. There is also a separate wet-room and WC.

The bedrooms are upstairs. The double bedroom is at the front of the property while the twin is at the back. The twin has been furnished with zip-and-link beds – please ask if you want these to be set up as twins or a king-size. They share a bathroom with luxurious roll top bath and separate shower. Both bedrooms and the living room have been fitted with smart TVs and there are spare HDMI cables to plug in your own equipment. Everything has been thought out to make your stay as comfortable as possible for a truly relaxing break at any time of the year; read a book or enjoy a film or two curled up on the sofa in front of the log burner or perhaps play a game from the large selection available.

Set back from the road  with private off road parking there is a large lawned area in front of the cottage and direct access to the fell behind.  In warmer weather you can enjoy a glass of your favourite drink here whilst soaking up the afternoon sun. Pubs serving excellent food and local beer are within easy walking distance.  Brambles Cafe and the local village shop is five minutes away and it sells everything!

You really are in the heart of the Lake District in the Langdale Valley, arguably the prettiest in the whole Lake District, with some outstanding walking right from the doorstep. The Cumbria Way passes along the valley floor, enabling you to walk to Skelwith Bridge and the fabulous Chesters by the River Café, or venture over the fell behind the cottage to Grasmere.

For serious walkers, the Langdale Pikes route starts a couple of miles away. Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, Pike o’Blisco and Scafell are also close by. Not a walker? Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Coniston are within half an hour’s drive.

For those who wish to explore further afield, a bus stop is located nearby in Chapel Stile. Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!

Please note booking this property requires a damage deposit of £150, which is taken the day prior to your arrival.
