This large first floor apartment in a converted house on Old Lakes Road is a delightful property in a quiet part of Ambleside. It is the perfect base to stay and enjoy both the local landscape and vibrant town life as the town centre is a short walk away. Interesting outdoor and independent shops, cinemas, cafes, bars and restaurants abound in this lively and popular town.
The property sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms (a double en-suite and a twin with zip and link beds which can be joined to make a super king). It is well equipped with a newly stocked kitchen, updated furnishings, flat screen TV and DVD and Wi-Fi, separate living room and kitchen. We present our properties with fresh white hotel grade linen and towels. If you require a cot and highchair but don’t fancy squeezing them in to your packing, these can be provided. Just ask at the time of booking.

Ambleside is a popular vibrant town and the perfect base for a holiday to the South Lakes with plenty of amenities and scenic walks close by. Lake Windermere is on the doorstep offering a variety of water sports and lake cruises, with Bowness providing pubs, theatre, cinema, shops and eateries to suit all tastes. For those wanting to explore a little further afield, there is so much to see and do only a short drive or bus trip away. A quick way to visit the sites and walks on the far side of the lake can be accessed by taking the ferry from Bowness.

Situated at the northern end of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside is a vibrant and picturesque town that makes an excellent base for exploring the central Lake District. Its charming streets are filled with independent shops, cosy cafés, traditional pubs and excellent restaurants, all set against the stunning backdrop of the surrounding fells.
For visitors arriving by car, Ambleside is easily reached via the M6 motorway, leaving at Junction 36 and following the A590 and A591 directly into the heart of the Lakes. If travelling by train, the nearest mainline station is at Windermere, just over 4 miles away, with regular bus and taxi connections into town.
Once in Ambleside, you can enjoy cruises and boat trips on Lake Windermere from Waterhead Pier or relax by the lakeshore park and beach. A short woodland walk leads to the striking Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, while in the centre of town you’ll find the iconic 17th-century Bridge House – one of the smallest and most photographed buildings in the Lakes.
