Grasmere is only a short walk down the lane. Famous for being a home to William Wordsworth; he once described it as “the loveliest spot that man hath ever found”. The Wordsworth Cottage and museum are a short stroll from the cottage. Now the town is a bustling hive of activity and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Lake District. It is home to the famous Sarah Nelson’s Gingerbread and the traditional bakery and quaint shop is well worth the visit. It has several art galleries, gift shops, a selection of outdoor equipment retailers, and a Co-op convenience store.
Ambleside at just under 5 miles is just a short drive away or a pleasant walk and a bus service runs regularly between the towns. Keswick is approximately 13 miles away.
