For visitors arriving by car, Ambleside is easily reached via the M6 motorway, leaving at Junction 36 and following the A590 and A591 directly into the heart of the Lakes. If travelling by train, the nearest mainline station is at Windermere, just over 4 miles away, with regular bus and taxi connections into town.
Once in Ambleside, you can enjoy cruises and boat trips on Lake Windermere from Waterhead Pier or relax by the lakeshore park and beach.
