Fabulous family house in Langdale

Traditional terraced Lakeland stone cottage built in the 1850s.

Oak Cottage, built in the 1850s, is a traditional terraced Lakeland three bedroom stone cottage on four floors on the road leading up to Holy Trinity Church in Chapel Stile. The local Co-op, Brambles Cafe and Wainwrights Inn are 200 metres from the front door.

Chapel Stile is renowned as the gateway to the Langdale Valley, a stunning area of breath-taking scenery and a great place to enjoy a holiday in the Lake District. You can walk, cycle and catch the bus to the rest of the Lake District National Park from the front door.

The entrance leads into a small hallway before an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. The lounge has comfortable seating for six around an open fireplace, flat screen TV, Sky Sports and blue ray DVD player and a selection of  DVDs to entertain on a damp day. The kitchen has warm, oak fronted units, double oven, microwave, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge/freezer and all the equipment and dishes you could wish for. A large oak dining table seats six so guests can all enjoy a meal together while making plans for the rest of the holiday in the Lake District.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom has a king size bed, en-suite shower room and views over the village centre. The second bedroom has a double bed with the best view, overlooking the field down Great Langdale Valley towards Lingmoor Fell. The main family bathroom with bath, basin and WC, is beside this double room, almost making it en-suite.

On the top floor is the large ‘L’ shaped twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, wash basin and WC, small seating area with TV (Freeview only) and tea making facilities. This room is perfect for grandparents or grown up children wanting a bit of space.

From the lounge there are stairs down to the basement which has been converted into a games and TV room suitable for children. The three large comfy bean bags are great for playing on the Play Station and watching TV. The washer, dryer, wine fridge and bicycle storage are located at the other end of the basement. The lawned garden with picturesque views towards Lingmoor Fell. An outbuilding, converted into a heated drying room, can be accessed from here. Please note the garden is shared with the neighbouring property, although both have their own private seating areas.
