Ambleside

The main house, Sweden Lodge, is a fantastic avant-guard 60’s property built in mature planted gardens, providing spacious accommodation across 5 bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms with open plan living-dining-kitchen.  The original property included a basic stone built garden lodge that has now been completely renovated by the current owners to provide a delightful one-bed property with kitchenette and wetroom, which can be booked separately (see our listing for Sweden Bothy) or included as part of the complete property that provides some private space for a couple of your party such as parents or grand parents of extended family groups.

Sweden Lodge has a large garden with mature planting, and outside seating for dining, with a gas fired BBQ.

Sweden Bothy enjoys a portion of the garden, which has now been fenced off to provide privacy for both, but with a gate to access when booked together.  The Bothy has a separate access from Hill Top Road, off Kirkstone Road, using the gated private drive, and has parking for 2 cars with space to turn.

Please note, a damage deposit of £1000 is required for the combined property

Ambleside Holiday Cottages

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles

Situated at the northern end of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside is a vibrant and picturesque town that makes an excellent base for exploring the central Lake District. Its charming streets are filled with independent shops, cosy cafés, traditional pubs and excellent restaurants, all set against the stunning backdrop of the surrounding fells.

For visitors arriving by car, Ambleside is easily reached via the M6 motorway, leaving at Junction 36 and following the A590 and A591 directly into the heart of the Lakes. If travelling by train, the nearest mainline station is at Windermere, just over 4 miles away, with regular bus and taxi connections into town.

Once in Ambleside, you can enjoy cruises and boat trips on Lake Windermere from Waterhead Pier or relax by the lakeshore park and beach. A short woodland walk leads to the striking Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, while in the centre of town you’ll find the iconic 17th-century Bridge House – one of the smallest and most photographed buildings in the Lakes.
