2 Bridge Syke Cottage is located alongside the River Brathay in Elterwater. It is the middle property of a terrace of slate stone cottages and benefits from a south facing outside seating area making the most of this lovely riverside location.

The cottage has two bedrooms and a bright family bathroom on the first floor with a well-appointed kitchen, living area with open fire downstairs. This traditional terraced cottage has everything you need for a cosy stay in the heart of the Lake District.

Elterwater is in our opinion the most beautiful village in the South Lakes area and is a fantastic base to explore the Langdale area which has some of the most stunning scenery and challenging hills in the Lakes.  The Britannia Inn is only a few steps away, with a great menu and a fantastic range of beers. Opposite is the Slates Bistro with a lovely outdoor seating area to sit and have a coffee while sitting in the sun. Just walk over the stone bridge that spans the babbling beck and you will find the welcoming Eltermere Inn surrounded by stunning views. Dinner here is highly recommended.

Enjoy the village and explore the surrounding hills from the Langdale Pikes to Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England, the local attractions of Slaters Bridge and Cathedral Cavern or a riverside walk to Skelwith Bridge rewarded by cake or something more substantial at Chesters by the River Cafe.

A parking permit for is provided allowing guests to park for free in the National Trust Car Park located across the road from the cottage.  National Trust Members can also park here for free.

For those who wish to explore further afield, a bus stop is located opposite the Elterwater’s magnificent maple tree. Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
