Cosy riverside retreat

2 Bridge Syke Cottage is located alongside the River Brathay in Elterwater. It is the middle property of a terrace of slate stone cottages and benefits from an outside seating area to the front which is also south facing making the most of this lovely riverside location.

The cottage is a 2 bed property with everything you need for a cosy stay in the heart of the Lake District – a well-appointed kitchen, living area with open fire and two double rooms upstairs with a bright family bathroom.

Elterwater is in our opinion the most beautiful village in the South Lakes area and a fantastic base to explore the Langdale area which has some of the most stunning scenery and challenging hills in the Lakes.  The Britannia Inn is only a few steps away, with a great menu and a fantastic range of beers. Opposite is the bistro ‘Slates’ with a lovely outdoor seating area to sit and have a coffee while sitting in the sun. Dinner at the Eltermere Inn is highly recommended.

Enjoy the village and explore the surrounding hills from the Langdale Pikes to Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England, the local attractions of Slaters Bridge and Cathedral Cavern or a riverside walk to Skelwith Bridge rewarded by cake or something more substantial at Chesters by the River Cafe.

A parking permit is in the cottage so guests can park for free in the National Trust Car Park located across the road from the cottage. If you are National Trust Members you can also park here for free.
