At Wheelwrights, we offer accommodation for larger groups in charming cottages, and period properties, in some of the most desired locations in The Lakes like Ambleside, Elterwater, and Hawkshead. The maximum number of guests that we can accommodate is fourteen, at The Parsonage in Ambleside. But, even larger groups could easily book neighbouring cottages in the same village, to enjoy the best of both worlds on a group holiday. Whether you’re looking to be away from it all in a secluded valley, or be close to the hustle and bustle, we have plenty of large properties that are available for last-minute bookings.

The Lake District is full of exciting activities to take part in on group holidays. Whether you are feeling adventurous, or you’re the relaxing type, there is plenty of space for large groups to get out and about together. With sixteen large bodies of water to choose from, it’s no wonder that the Lake District is one of the most popular places to do water sports in the UK. Get stuck into kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, sailing, water skiing and much more.
If you want to stay above the water, book a leisurely cruise on Lake Windermere, where you can make multiple stops to explore the lakeshore. Or, take an iconic ride on a Ullswater Steamer! Plus, they offer samples to try, as well as yummy food made onsite.
